Quick Thought

Just a quick little question/observation: Is it weird that I've spent more time watching to see what Mr. Chad "Who's Covering 85 in '05?" Johnson will do than I have the Yankees?

I mean, this is me, Mr. "Hardcore Baseball Junkie Since '88," on a day when the freaking Yankees could possibly get eliminated, and I just don't have much enthusiasm for it. Maybe the fact that the Braves-Astros game went so damn long (to the point where my friend Beth and I were making jokes about the game whimpering on the floor, begging for someone to shoot it in the head) probably has something to do with it.

But I'm also sure that Chad Johnson is my favorite player in the NFL, period bottomline. I think I'm gonna have to go out and buy me a 85 jersey one of these days (and it'd probably be a better investment than that Beltran authentic I copped this winter)...

I understand that your frustration with Mike "I like boys" Piazza and the rest of the New York Metrosexuals has left a bitter taste in your mouth for baseball, but dont hate the spankees just because the mets are an average team with an average lineup and mediocre pitching; its just not becuming of you.

I understand you LUV watching the yankees lose, or any of their rivals win, but its typical of all Met fans to hate on the Yanks, and the yankee fans not hate on the mets.

Am I a hater? Is Peter a hater? We hate in retaliation to met hate.

So look deep in side, and ask, Why do i hate?

While it is true that I DO hate the Yankees and enjoy watching them lose, the point of my post was that I'd rather watch Chad Johnson than playoff baseball, and how weird that was. I mean, think about it, if I am as big a hater as you say I am (and I probably am), why did I NOT watch the Yankees on Sunday, prefering to watch the humorous exploits of #85? I mean, they could have easily been eliminated on Sunday, the crowning achievement of every Yankee-haters season!

Then again, I did watch pretty much every pitch of last nights game. But that might be because it was a super intense, insane game, and also because neither the Steelers nor Chargers have #85 (although the Steelers do have #86 and the Bolts do have #21, entertaining players in their own right).

And please, don't tell me Yankee fans don't hate on the Mets or their fans, because that's just crap. Part of the reason I went from being a Met fan who would root for the Yanks to do well as long as it didn't come at the expense of the Mets to a person with an obsessive, visceral hatred towards the Yanks was PRECISELY due to the fact that obnoxious asshole Yankee fans started giving me (and my fellow Mets fans) ungodly amounts of crap circa '96 (especially infuriating when you consider that none of these people seemed to remember the times when the Yanks sucked, you could get field level tickets at The Stadium with ease whereas you couldn't get tickets at Shea to save your life-- I know, I tried, and I did sit in the third row behind homeplate at Yankee Stadium many a time in my youth, or the fact that Andy Hawkins once pitched a no-hotter and the Yanks still managed to lose, thats how awful they were).

Rant over.

Yo Alpdizzle the God,

So I heard the new System of A Down Single. It kicks ass as a song among all songs, but as a System song as a whole I gotta say that it's a bit anti-climactic. The first half of the song (perhaps mixed with understandable anticipation for the dope new album) is incredible. But it doesn't seem to go anywhere after about the halfway point.
I can only hope that the songs on Hypnotize are more violent and pornographic.
